Merry Christmas to everyone! Hope you're having the best day ever with your family and relatives. I know I shouldn't post today, but I'm feeling super festive and creative, so I thought this would be a cute idea to realize maybe with your cousins or friends.
Here's all you need:
FOR THE DOUGH (6 people)
-200g flour
-100g sugar
-100g butter
-3 egg yolks
-lemon peel shaved
FOR THE FROSTING
-125g icing sugar
-food colourants
-water
First of all, put all the ingredients for the dough in a large bowl and stir everything together with a spoon, and then with your hands.
It's not so easy since the dough tends to crumble, so try to keep everything together. It shouldn't be sticky, so make sure you add some flour if it is.
Then, wrap the dough in cling film and put it to chill in the fridge for about half an hour.
When it's time, take out the dough and sprinkle some flour onto the table where you're going to work and on the rolling pin. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees. Start to roll it to just 1/4-inch thick. Using a few pretty templates cut out the cookies and place them on some parchment paper on a baking sheet.
Put them in the oven and let them bake for about 12 minutes until they're golden on the edges.
Now you can make the icing. Mix together the powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons of water using a spoon or a fork. It should be quite thick, and if you drizzle a little from your spoon, the ribbon should hold for a few seconds before melting back into the frosting. It should be just thick enough to pour easily. If you desire, add some food colorant now.
Then, you can use a teaspoon (or a squeeze bottle if you want to be more precise) to decorate the cookies. Use your creativity to create the cutest cookies ever and set them on a tray.
And you've done! Quick and simple, the perfect recipe to make with children or friends in the happy atmosphere of Christmas!
Hope you've enjoyed it and make sure to tag me on instagram or twitter with your pics if you recreate my cookies!
Love,
